Storage crates, fully maximizing the space in your childs room means trying to find furniture that serves multi-purposes. A great example of this is to get a wooden crate, 4 caster wheels, a small piece of plywood or particle board and a piece of fabric that accents the room. Attach caster wheels to bottom of crate. Then have plywood cut to the opening size of the crate. Next wrap top of plywood with the fabric, using a stapler to fasten to the underside of the plywood. If you would like a more cushioned top, first wrap with a medium thickness foam before fastening fabric.
Use stackable drawers to keep their toys in. These are great because they are inexpensive and can be stacked in a corner leaving the middle of the floor open and clear of clutter. Wicker baskets and hope chests are great for storing stuff animals or toys.
