There are really nice cube shelves that are designed specifically to hold storage boxes and baskets. This way, you have an attractive and practical piece of furniture which will hold the boxes and add color to the room at the same time. Wall-mounted shelves are also a great way to organize stuff. While they usually are not very big, they have the extra added bonus of adding color and character to a room. Most kids rooms have available wall space which you can take advantage of, and kill two birds with one stone.
Replace your conventional shelves, if your youngster needs more space for storing books, sports equipment, hobby items, shoes or other things, its hard to fit all this on a typical book shelf. Contemporary cubby hole shelves built for maximum storage can provide enough places to store just about everything. You can select pre-built cubby hole shelving that is simple, box-like construction and that can be added to, if need be.
You know those clear boxes used for shoe storage? You could always use those keeping your kids toys, especially for the little toys that would get lost in big toy boxes. You can have one kind of toy per box. Like, one box for building blocks; one box for toy cars and one box for art supplies. This way, your kids can just grab one and play. No need to take all toys out, unlike if you are kid has only one box for all the toys.
Open storage is ideal for your childs most frequently used items and makes cleaning up easier. Choose designs that are decorative as well as functional, with rows of baskets, buckets or totes that echo the rooms color palette. A mix of open and closed storage works well for clothing. Install pegs or hooks at child height and put a basket for shoes on the closet floor. Place a dresser and a hamper nearby, or use an armoire to neatly tuck away shirts, pants and dresses.
