Use stackable drawers to keep their toys in. These are great because they are inexpensive and can be stacked in a corner leaving the middle of the floor open and clear of clutter. Wicker baskets and hope chests are great for storing stuff animals or toys.
Open storage is ideal for your childs most frequently used items and makes cleaning up easier. Choose designs that are decorative as well as functional, with rows of baskets, buckets or totes that echo the rooms color palette. A mix of open and closed storage works well for clothing. Install pegs or hooks at child height and put a basket for shoes on the closet floor. Place a dresser and a hamper nearby, or use an armoire to neatly tuck away shirts, pants and dresses.
