Lightweight curtains are better than heavy draperies for kids allergic to dust mites, dyes or chemicals, simply because they have less fabric. However, if your kid’s room gets a lot of light, having both transparent and heavy curtains is advisable to protect the room from excessive light, or you can just opt for blinds and shutters, combining with more or less transparent curtains. Regardless of the age and gender, it’s advisable to change curtains every few years to somehow renew the design of the room. Besides, buying new curtains is much cheaper than painting the walls anew, or changing the furniture in your kid’s room.
Curtain tips, curtains can add a touch of class to any room and not just to control the lighting and your privacy made to measure. Curtains can come in many different colours and designs with so much choice out there sometimes it can be confusing so we decided to put some tips together to help you choose your curtains depending on what type of room they will be placed in.
This is where blackout curtains come in. They are room darkening curtains which you can use to control any external light that pass into your kids rooms. Blackout curtains are effective because they are able to block 99% of light, thus providing our kids with the ideal environment to get their necessary sleep.
Parents should also consider the curtain’s material. You can achieve fantastic looks for window treatments with cotton, silk and even netted curtains. But you’ll need to decide on the material’s thickness and what you want to accomplish in the room. Thicker material will block out more light and keep a nursery warmer by preventing cold drafts coming from windows during winter months. But if you live in a warmer climate and prefer to keep your nursery light and cheery, choosing a lighter material will allow more sunlight in.
